The chawan is in very good condition. It bears an old flaw; a small, innocent chip visible on picture 3, but from the perspective of wabi-sabi aesthetics, that only adds to its noble aura.

The bowl will be shipped in a fitted wooden box and shifuku (silk pouch).

A remarkable blue and white jar decorated with two dragons. The jar dates from the Korean Joseon period (Richo, in Japanese; 1392-1897), probably 18th century.

The jar shows traces of old repairs made during the Japanese Edo period (1615-1868). They were made by literally stapling the broken or cracked pieces together.
In spite of these regrettable yet captivating flaws, the jar has kept its vibrant and noble aura.

Kindly inquire if you have some questions.

Korean celadon had begun to be made in early 10th century under influence by Chinese. Especially in the early stage the color of celadon was very clear to be comparable to fine Chinese celadon. This work is presumed to have been made in the early stage, examining the color and the shape. It has a small repaired crack at the adoral edge and there is a small part that the glaze does not lay on, near the inside bottom. This tea bawl was excavated in mid 20th century and used as a tea ceremony i...

This is a nice and rare Korean Choson dynasty, 15th or 16th century white glazed vase. It has a nicely potted pear shape and is covered in a fine and pure white glaze. During King Sejong's Reign in the early Choson dynasty, white wares were declared the Imperial wares and were reserved for court use. After that time, white wares on and off became the official wares of ancient Korea. This vase was probably produced by the official kilns or the provincial kilns for municipal use. It is in good con...

His works are now sought by museums and collectors internationally. This is the original signed AP (Artist's Proof) of this large lithograph, where Unbo gives us a most creative rendering with anthropomorphic figures in the ancient style of figurative munjado calligraphy. 38.5 x 28.5 inches, 98 x 72.5 cm.

Before styles such as Raku, Hagi, Karatsu, etc came into fashion for use in the tearoom in early Edo, it was commonplace in cultured society to use tea-ware imported from China. In fact, some pottery styles uniquely Japanese (such as Shino) are thought to have been born out of unsuccessful attempts to emulate these extremely high-quality and refined ceramics. The number of such pieces imported was so great that today it is not uncommon for Chinese collectors to visit Japan in search of authentic...
