Large ushabti, with pleasant facial expression, depicted mummiform, with hands emerging from tightly-fitting garment, hands holding implements, seedsack suspended over shoulder, wearing a partially striated tripartite wig, and with 10 lines of hieroglyphic text, reading "pA-dj-jj-m-Htp" for the owner. Probably pronounced "Padiemhotep." The name means "the one whom 'Come-In-Peace' gives". The rest of the text is likely a standard Chapter 6 Book of the Dead inscription. 26th Dynasty, 685-525 B.C....

Beautiful Japanese Wajima lacquer stand with gold maki-e painting on a nashi-ji (pear skin) background. The designs are scrolling vines with stylized chrysanthemums and paulonias, which are the crests of the emperor and empress. The style of sparkling nashiji lacquer work and the theme were popular in the Taisho period (1912-1926) to the beginning of the Showa era, sometime after the return of the throne to the emperor.
