Japanese silver salt and pepper, ca 1890. Open salt round and bellied with short plain foot. Shaker ginger jar-form with pierced and threaded cover. Both have allover hand hammering with applied floral ornament: salt has tree trunk and blossoming branches. The shaker has iris flowers in eddying water. A charming Meiji-era pair.
