Very Rare Chinese Song Dynasty Jar with Stand & Cover (Dragon Chasing Pearl)

This stoneware jar was made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 -1279). We have had a few similar "dragon" jars over the years but it is extremely rare to see such a jar with not only a cover, but a cut-out bowl in which it stands. Circa 1870s-90s Japanese Hirado porcelain vase with a globular body raised on a short footrim and rising to a slender, knopped neck with everted mouth and galleried rim. Decorated in underglaze cobalt blue with a falcon perched on the bole of a gnarled pine tree, a band of lappets around the foot, and the rim with a continuous key-fret border, it is in excellent condition.

A signed Libbey Nash “Morning Glory” short candlesticks, shape K-521. This example is purple with white opalescent vertical stripes on a colorless base glass. The 3 5/8 inch tall candlestick is 5 inches in diameter at the top and the foot is 4 1/4 inches in diameter. It is shown on page 30-E of the 1933 Libbey Nash . The candlestick has a ground and polished pontil and is signed with the Libbey circle mark.

Fine Chinese Western Han Dynasty Round Pottery Box (206 BC - AD 8)

This fine-quality round pottery box, complete with original cover, was made during the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC - AD 8). It is made from a fine-grained grey pottery and quite highly-fired, both box and cover having a distinct ring when tapped. The design of this box is very simple yet also elegant and pleasing to the eye. Its purpose was that of a food container.
