All Items : Estate Jewelry : Costume : Pre 1960 item #1160069 (stock #TG0004)
This is a well-known and hard-to-find set in very good condition. It is shown on page 353 of Julia Carroll's book, Collecting Costume Jewelry 202. She feels that the set can be attributed to Hobe because a signed necklace was shown on line that matched exactly. However, this set is not marked, and I am not comfortable attributing unmarked vintage. So - we'll let it stand on its own merits which are considerable.

First of all, the set is big - the larger of the figured pieces are 2" x 1 3/4...

Here we have a Max Neiger Egyptian Revival brooch from the 1930s. It is pictured on the dust cover of the book, "Egyptian Revival:Jewelry and Design" by Nichols, Foote and Allison, and it is also pictured inside the book. For those who do not know the story, the Neiger Brothers were in business in Gablonz, Czechoslovakia, in the 1930s and they made a lot of pieces with Egyptian and Oriental Designs. Unfortunately both of the brothers were killed in the concentration camps during the war, and ...

This is a wonderful vintage unsigned August Bonaz penguin pin. The original art deco pin is black galalith (French Bakelite) with gold and silver paint and inset crystal rhinestones on the penguin's tummy. He is 2-3/4" tall and has a French trombone style pin back. This was purchased in Paris after the discovery of a collection of old Bonaz stock, never used, was discovered. There are a few signs of age but no noticeable damage. This identical penguin (only in green) is pictured on page 29 "...

An exquisite and very fine 18K yellow gold jewel by Henry Dunay, one of the greatest American jewelers of the latter 20th century. There is no visible image of God in Japanese Shinto religion. For this reason, people find the spirit of God in their surroundings, especially in nature. In the noh play “Takasago”, an old couple is seen together on the beach of Takasago (today’s Hyogo prefecture) sweeping pine needles under the trees. The old man Jo and old woman Uba are the spirits of the pine trees that were grown in Takasago and Sumiyoshi. The two trees are located far away but they are together with their spirits. ...
