This is a great old Art Deco Egyptian motif pin. The pin measures approximately 1 1/2 inches and is very well made. The metal is gold gilt brass. The detail of the enameling is excellent. The motif is classic Art Deco. The opening of King Tuts tomb, in 1922 had a profound influence on Art Deco jewelry motifs. Egyptian designs were very popular, especially scarabs. This authentic old Art Deco piece is in very good condition, just one small bit of missing enamel. There are no marks.

It is pictured on the dust cover of the book, "Egyptian Revival:Jewelry and Design" by Nichols, Foote and Allison, and it is also pictured inside the book. For those who do not know the story, the Neiger Brothers were in business in Gablonz, Czechoslovakia, in the 1930s and they made a lot of pieces with Egyptian and Oriental Designs. Unfortunately both of the brothers were killed in the concentration camps during the war, and ...

Condition of this fabulous piece is quite fine. The interior of the globe and finial note some faint, scattered, age-related haziness. While the large globe has abs...

This is a well-known and hard-to-find set in very good condition. It is shown on page 353 of Julia Carroll's book, Collecting Costume Jewelry 202. She feels that the set can be attributed to Hobe because a signed necklace was shown on line that matched exactly. However, this set is not marked, and I am not comfortable attributing unmarked vintage. So - we'll let it stand on its own merits which are considerable.

First of all, the set is big - the larger of the figured pieces are 2" x 1 3/4...

The ocean liner "Ile de France" was launched in 1926--not as the largest ship afloat, but intentionally as the most elegant ship in the world. This shaker was intended to celebrate that achievement and took its streamlined design elements from the ship itself. The pour spout protrudes from the side of the sh...
