Wonderful detailed Miniature Portait of a Lady of the Court with fine gown and jewels. It is in original red velvet frame which measures 4.5" tall. Portrait is appx 3.25" tall. Painted on Ivory wafer and signed by artist, this is European in Origin. I just love the fine detail in her garb and elaborate jewelry. Condition is Very Good. You will be pleased, it is hard to let go of this one.
A charming, signed, pastel portrait by Dorothy Colles (1917-2003) who was (according to an obituary published in the Independent newspaper) "gifted in portraits of children". Seated Bosatsu (Skt. Bodhisattva) sculpted in relief from a fine-grained igneous stone, the hands forming the gassho adoration mudra and supporting a long-stemmed lotus blossom. Mid- to late-Edo Period ca. 1775. Very minor old loss. Patchy-white lichen accumulation.

Old Japanese folk wooden drawer-type toolbox with such lovely hand-painted sickles and kitchen knife, used by a craftsman like cutler (or blade sharpener or blacksmith), 19th century, approx. 30 x 20 x 15cm (11.81 x 7.87 x 5.90in). Used condition due to aging as is, but no fatal damage and still practical condition with still fine original iron handles. Quite a rare find.
