A rare finely carved cylindrical bamboo incense box depicting Scholars amongst rocks and pine trees in a mountain landscape. This item was made in China in the late Qing period - the characters carved into the top read "Qing Guangxu Nian Zhi" which translates as "Made in the Guangxu reign Qing dynasty" (1875-1908). Condition - one 2cm age related crack at the top - otherwise excellent with no damages or losses and no repairs or restoration. 22.7cm (8.8inches) high.

This wonderful album is dated 1994 so its late on in Dayu’s career. There is a total of nine paintings in the album. The inside of the cover boards has gold flecks spattered on them and the color watercolors have gold mixed with them. The handmade paper is very thick and heavy. An unusual late 19th C Chinese teapot of quatrefoil form applied with a bamboo form spout set opposite a bamboo handle. Decorated around the sides in shades of blue and white enamel with flower heads on mint green scrolling foliage, the flattened cover is similarly decorated and surmounted by a leaf form knop. Circa 1965 red free form metal sculpture on a black wooden base by George Curtis (1923-2010). Curtis developed a unique way of creating freedom as opposed to formal structure sculptures. Using a 5 gallon pail filled with water and potatoes, he would melt scrap aluminum and pour it into the pail. The result was an unvisualized form that humans have never seen before, a representation of the shape of spaces and caverns between objects. Measures 15" high.

This stoneware bowl was made during the Koryo Dynasty (AD 918 - 1392). It is glazed all over in quite a thick and finely-crackled celadon glaze. There are "spur" marks within the glaze from firing spacers to the centre of the bowl as well as around the outside of the foot.
