These bottles are decorated in underglaze cobalt blue and colored enamels with a design of various painted fans floating on an iron red enamel ground that is covered with gilt spirals. The interiors and mouthrims are clear glazed. The bases are glazed clear and the footrings are unglazed, exposing the fine white porcelain paste. A signed Libbey Nash “Morning Glory” short candlesticks, shape K-521. This example is purple with white opalescent vertical stripes on a colorless base glass. The 3 5/8 inch tall candlestick is 5 inches in diameter at the top and the foot is 4 1/4 inches in diameter. It is shown on page 30-E of the 1933 Libbey Nash . The candlestick has a ground and polished pontil and is signed with the Libbey circle mark.

Pair Korean Scholar's Book Chests, four(4) claws Korean Dragon and Phoenix Bird are battling in the flame, inlaid with Mother of Pearl, twisted Brass and faux tortoise shell, 41" high, 27" wide, 12 1/2" deep each in the background of dark brown lacquer with gold powder sparkling finish. Seated in meditation with open and compassionate heart, this bodhisattva is on a spiritual journey, postponing his own salvation in order to remain on earth to help others achieve enlightenment. In contrast to some images of the Japanese Bodhisattva (Bosatsu), often depicted as austere and inward looking, here, Kimura depicts the Bodhisattva as playful, carefree, and decidedly ornate.
