similar to Swirled Glass European Style Chinese Glass Snuff Bottle

All Items : Popular Collectibles : Cultural : Chinese : Snuff Bottles : Pre 1930 item #1460075 (stock #GP7)
This is a European style swirled glass snuff bottle. Before anyone categorizes it as purely European, I want to make clear it was personally acquired by me in Shanghai, China in 1999, regardless. The bottle is 2 1/4 inches tall (5.5 cm) tall without the stopper. It has a hexagon shaped neck and has been fitted with a custom stopper (jasper cabochon and bamboo spoon) from the only online custom snuff bottle stopper site (see my home page here). My best guess is that it is from 1900-1920.

Presented on a rosewood stand, this snuff bottle has a wonderful color and patina and is one of the coolest bug type carved snuff bottles that we have encountered in some time. In excellent condition, a later spoon and cork was applied. Measures: H...

A massive bronze (copper tin alloy) vase cast in Han dynasty Hu shape and with Han style Taotie mask handles. The archaistic style decoration is an amalgam of Shang and Zhou dynasty motifs. These consist of upper and lower bands depicting stylized dragons and a central band of large Taotie ("monster"} masks. All are reserved against a flattened Leiwen (cloud) daiper ground. Below the upper two horizontal bands are pendent 'Cicida Blades'. An accompanying 1973 British Museum letter suggests a...

Late 1800s

Shallow form with brilliant turquoise color. The cavetto is molded with thirty-two chrysanthemum petal-form flutes that appear convex on the back-side of the dish and encircle the flattened base. A “China” mark is needle-incised on the base. Very good condition. Acquired 25 years ago in North Carolina from an estate that was involved with the tobacco trade in China. It is rare for a large, delicate flat-rimmed dish, such as this one, to survive without damage.

This figural glass lamp was produced by L.E. Smith Company during the 1940's - 50's. The color was fired on over clear glass, giving the opaque finish. This style is referred to as the 'Southern Belle' lamp. I have 2 available. Both have been re-wired so they work fine. The shade clips on the light bulb. (Bulb not included, I recommend 25 or 40 watt bulbs so the glass doesn't get too hot.) Please specify which you'd like. All are in good shape.
