Midcentury Modern sterling silver water pitcher. Made by Alphonse La Paglia (d. 1953) in New Jersey. Baluster with asymmetrical oval mouth; stepped and round foot ring with flat beading. High-looping handle wrapped with abstract leaves; scroll terminal inset with Jensen-inspired seed-spilling pod on wire stem. The influence of the master applied to a traditional form. Marked “La Paglia Sterling 208”. Very good condition.

Pretty Midcentury Modern watering can. Upward tapering bowl with chased bands and applied flowers. Gadrooned shoulder and straight and girdled neck. Rectilinear spout terminating in disc-form spout and capped scroll bracket handle in stained wood. Cover hinged and domed with gadrooned top and finial on waisted support. Short neck with sterling silver collar and hinged ball cover with stylized flowers and scrolls in ogee frame, and bead-and-reel rim. Collar and cover interior gild washed.
