Tall Classical sterling silver wine ewer. Made by Moore for Tiffany & Co. at 550 Broadway, New York, ca 1855. Ovoid bowl with helmet mouth and raised round foot; cast high-looping fruiting grapevine handle. Foot rim encircled with same. Chased and engraved outsized leaves and squiggly tendrils, and bunches in relief. Irregular round frame (vacant). Early marks (1854-70) including maker’s stamp and retailer’s stamps, and pre-1860 pattern no. 488. Very good condition with deep patina.

Modern sterling silver porringer with Noah’s Ark motif. Made by Tiffany & Co. in New York, ca 1926. Bellied bowl and solid shaped handle. On exterior is acid-etched frieze with a lion, camel, elephant, bear—and so on single file through the animal kingdom. Destination Ark where Noah awaits. Turn-of-the-century sterling silver baby set rich in period assumptions. Made by William B. Kerr in Newark. This set comprises cup, bowl, and plate.

Cup has acid-etched frieze depicting sailor-suited, flag-holding, all-American boy with exotic coevals in native dress relegated to background. Imagery enhanced with verse: “Little Indian, Sioux or Crow, little frosty Eskimo, little Turk or Japanese—Oh! Don’t you wish that you were me?”
