A beautiful silver work with turquoise stones. The total of eleven large turquoise stones (oval cabochon cut) are mounted on these delicate silver filigree which are lightly plated with gold. A peepal tree leaf finely painted in ink, colour and gold, depicting two Buddhist disciples in a landscape setting. Pasted on grey cardboard, with inscription in gold and red seal on the left side. Mounted in a lotus leaf shaped frame and base, carved from hardwood. Condition: lower left corner with a stain, some traces of usage. Dimension: total height: c. 25.8 cm, 19.3 cm wide, Bodhi leaf: c. 16 x 13 cm, weight: 352 g.
My pictures do not do justice to the elaborate, three-dimensional silver work under the translucent, dark, cherry red enamel. There are moths hidden among the flowers and leaves, and there is a depth to the design that you must admire in person to appreciate. As the sunlight skips over the delicate, gleaming petals of the most pronounced flowers, the rest of the intricately wrought design falls in varying degrees into the shadows.
Height: 12 inches
Width: 3.75 inches
