Wide-bodied baluster with helmet mouth, leaf-capped high-looping handle, and 4 leaf-mounted volute scroll supports. Chased frames (vacant) entwined with flowers and leafing scrolls Mouth rim has applied leafing scrolls and flowers. Voluptuous form with nice heft. George V sterling silver covered urn. Made by Lionel Alfred Chrichton in London in 1916. Girdled urn with half strapwork on stepped domed foot; leaf-capped s-scroll sides handles. Cover double domed with vasiform finial and radiating strapwork. Strapwork chsed and engraved on stippled ground. A poignant tribute to the lasting popularity of Edwardian Neoclassicism in the dark days of World War I. Fully marked. Very good condition.

Cast leaf-capped and -mounted high-looping handle with low-relief flowers. Fully marked including maker’s stamp (1932-61), no. 278F, and phrase “Hand Decorated”. Very good condition.
