Hanging scroll. A dragon shoots upwards through the clouds. Its head clearly visible, pointing straight up, the tail faintly disappearing in the darkness of the sky. Black ink on silk. Very skillful use of many shades of black and gray. Signed and dated in the lower left: Bunka year of the monkey (1812), Fuyu and artist’s red seal Rintai.

Zushi in the shape of a Shinto shrine housing a carving of a curled up snake, it’s tongue stuck out. Glass pane behind the double doors, so that the snake is sort of enshrined. Left door inscribed with dedication by the donor. Very rare cast bronze sculpture of the Chinese monk Xuanzang with a pile of Buddhist scriptures rolled up and stacked in the pack on his back and a lotus leaf over his head from which dangles an incense burner, as he returns to China from India.
In his hands he was holding a scroll and a fly whisk that are now missing. Figure stands on an irregularly shaped base. Japan, mid Edo period, 18th century.

19TH century large Japanese Kutani basket shape vase on four feet. Two nicely decorated panels, one with people in an outdoors setting and the other side scene with bushes, flowers and a bird standing on a branch. measuring approximately: 12&1/2 inches, 32 centimeters -Tall. And 12 inches, 30 centimeters - wide. There is a Kutani mark in the inner handle. This Kutani vase is in very good condition, no damages and no repairs.

Lavender over amber and colorless cameo vase by DeVez measuring 4 ½ inches tall and 4 ½ inches in diameter. The vase features a mountain, village and lake scene with boat with a top border of flowers and foliage. A differntly shaped vase with the same scene is illustrated in Blount’s “French Cameo Glass” photo 174b on page 107. The cameo signature is illustrated in the same book on page 148 as signature 110.
