Dramatic silver teapot. Made by Khecheong in Canton, ca. 1851. Upward tapering sides, side-hinged and curved cover, scroll handle, and scrolled vertical spout. The sides have raised scenes of Chinese life with figures in exotic costumes, pavilions, and blossoming trees. The handle is in form of dragon with head peeping above the cover and webbed feet gripping the pot. The spout is also scaly reptilian and terminates in head with gaping mouth spout. Applied wraparound horned and taloned dragon. For piquant condiments. Marks include stamp for Tien Shing, who was active in Hong Kong in the third-quarter of the 19th century. Very good condition.
