A rare and fine Kangxi period but Jiajing marked underglaze three colour vase. It was finely painted with the four auspicious mythical beasts or silingshou, which are the dragons, phoenixes, tigers and lions in underglaze blue and red in reserve on a powder blue ground. The rocks were carved into the porcelain and enamelled in celadon. All underglaze colours are bright and brilliant. The base bears the six character Jiajing mark in double circles in underglaze blue. It is in pristine conditions. Kangxi period vases in pristine conditions are extremely exiguous.
