Antique Medieval Islamic Fatimid Caliphate Ceramic Bowl 10 -11 Century

A tall bowl of deep form resting on a short disc-shaped foot, inner walls divided by painted green splashed radiating lines into four panels.

The panels are embellished with painted brown drop-shaped cartouches; two contain lobed leaves on the inside, adorned with incised scrolls and surrounded by splashed green and brown dots, and the other two are painted in brown triangles adorned with splashed green and brown dots. All painted on the beige ground

The exterior rim is painted brown with a scrolling pattern under the glaze.

The drop-shaped cartouches and the three colors: beige, brown, and splashed green dots, are typical for the Fatimid ceramic from 10th -11 century A.D. (364 A.H. – 441 A.H.).

CONDITION: With signs of age with old patina, repaired breaks.
