Most of these types of bowls are decorated with the Arabic inscription Kufic only around the rim or only in the center of the interior. This bowl is a rare example with calligraphy below the rim and in the center.
DIMENSIONS:
Diameter approx.: 21cm (8.27 inches). Height approx.: 6.5 cm (2.56 inches).
CONDITION: Clean breaks glued together with some repainting. Some slip-paint is lifting and flaking with some losses (particularly to the exterior), which is commensurate with the age of the bowl that is over 1000 years old.
Most of these types of bowls, including those in famous museums, are broken and repaired, some of them consist of many pieces, and some of the missing parts have been restored and repainted. This bowl has all its original parts without any replacement parts.
Since the market is flooded with reproductions of medieval Islamic art objects, most of which are made in Afghanistan and Southeast Asia, professionally aged and damaged to look old and authentic, we would like to inform our clients that this is a 100% authentic antique medieval 10th century AD bowl from the Samanid dynasty period and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by our company Hundred and One Antiques.
