Large antique, 18th century, American Revolutionary war period, Pennsylvania Dutch rifleman's powder horn (1770s-1780).

It is made of a hollowed-out brown horn with a domed oval wood base secured with brass tacks and fitted with a brass loop in the center for a suspension cord.

The body is engraved in the middle with the initials J.R.K. The upper part below the wooden base is engraved with typical 18th-century Pennsylvania Dutch Hex signs – a rosette for good luck and a Pennsylvania Hemlock twig.

CONDITION: In its original untouched condition. Free of repairs or restorations, with a superb mellow old patina. Some brass tacks are missing, and the wooden base retains the original red paint that this powder horn was painted in the 18th century.

MEASUREMENTS: Total length is approximately: 35 cm (13.78 inches).
