Antique 18th century European Blue and White Delft Faience pewter-mounted jug. Of globular form with cylindrical neck, sits on a spreading foot, pinched lip and applied with a strap handle, the body painted in cobalt blue with elaborate scrollwork upholding swags and foliate motifs. The strap handle joining the body to the neck and mounted with a pinched domed hinged pewter lid with elaborate thumb-piece finial. The base of the jug marked with hand painted maker’s mark “MD”.
MEASUREMENTS:
Height including thumb-piece: 23 cm (9.06 inches).
Width including handle: 16 cm (6.3 inches).
CONDITION: This jug is in excellent condition, with no cracks, repairs, or restorations.
