Vintage Chinese watercolor of a horse in the manner of Xu Beihong circa 1930s. Presented matted and in a gilt fauxbois frame. Image size: 5.75" x 8.5". overall 13.75ʺW × 0.5ʺD × 14.75ʺH Wear commensurate with age, some minor staining on edges. Xu Beihong (1895-1953) was a Chinese painter born in Yixing, Jiangsu province. He was primarily known for his Chinese ink paintings of horses and birds and was one of the first Chinese artists to articulate the need for artistic expressions that reflected a modern China at the beginning of the 20th century
