A wooden sculpture titled Flight of the Dove by Richard Gerster. This piece depicts a stained wood sculpture of a dove in flight mounted to a gold tone metal and black painted wood plinth resting atop a black wooden pedestal. A decal is present to the base with the name of the artist and the name of the piece.
Graduating from Tyler School of Fine Art at Temple University with a B.F.A. in Sculpture, Richard Gerster went on to achieve many awards, winning First Prize at Phillips Mill Annual Juried Show in 1975 and 1981, won Best in Show and the President's Award at the Ellarslie Open at the Trenton City Museum, and an Honorable Mention at the 39th Annual Juried Art Exhibit at the Smithville Mansion.
Richard Gerster has had many exhibitions, such as National Academy of Design in NYC, New Jersey State Museum, and at Allied Artists of America in NYC.
Gerster was the department head and instructor at Johnson Ateller in Trenton, NJ from 1971 to 1980.
