A set of four wine cups individually painted in traditional Chinese landscape style and each bearing the verse "Xin Kuan Wang Di Zhia" which translates directly as "Heart Broad Forget Ground Narrow". The bases carry the iron red four character reign mark of the Hongxian 'emperor' (1916) but these items were probably made later, during the Republic Period, circa 1917-1949. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 4.5cm (1.75 inches) high; 6.3cm (2.3 inches) diameter.

四件一组的粉彩山水酒盅，上书“心宽忘地窄”。底有红色“洪宪年制”四字款，但为后世民国约1917-1949年所做。

A large carved hardwood bust of a dancer in traditional costume, signed Klung Kung, and made in Bali during the first half of the 20th Century, circa 1920 to 1950. Height 36cm (14inches); weight 2.5kg (5.5lb).

A small Paktong Ink Box with engraved landscape decoration, made in China during the Republic period (1912-1949) or earlier. The copper base bears a shop or retailer's mark which reads "Yong Fa Chang". Condition - there are small surface bumps and marks (please view enlargements) and there is wear to the base. 4.4cm (1.75ins) square; 2.4cm (0.9ins) deep.

A richly patinated carved wood figure of a seated drum playing musician. This item was made in Bali, circa 1900-1940, during the first half of the 20th Century. Condition - very good - there is a small chip to the head-dress (please view enlargement 11) - no further damage and no repairs. 18cm (7 inches) wide; 32cm (12.5 inches) high.

A very finely carved Huang Yang ("Boxwood") figure group depicting Lu Xing, one of the three Daoist Star Gods. On the back is carved the seal mark of Jing Fu who was active in China during the Republic period (1912-1949) and who was the first student of the famous Huang Yang wood carver Zhu Zichang. There is a very similar carving by Jing Fu in the collection of Wen Zhou Museum, Zhejiang Province - we will be happy to email a link to the carving in the museum on request. Condition - very good - it is lacking its original stand; there are two small chips to the base (back) and an age crack to the left of Lu Xing's foot (please view enlargement 8). 民国时期 黄杨木雕“禄星”像 “敬孚”款
一件雕工精湛的黄杨木雕“禄星”。像背面刻有“敬孚”字样署名。敬孚，民国时期温州人，为晚清著名黄杨木雕师朱子常的大徒弟。温州博物馆有一件与此非常相似的木雕，亦为敬孚所刻。此相似之例的照片，可以在温州博物馆·数字博物馆中找到（如有需要，可提供网页链接）。
品相：很好。缺底座。底部北面有两处小磕，禄星左足有一处因年代久远导致的裂纹（见图8）。如有需要，可提供更多照片。像高17厘米。

A bowl, made in imitation of late Qing Imperial style, with two roundels - one depicting a five clawed Dragon and the other a Phoenix - both separated by two iron red bats and above stylized breaking waves. The base carries what is probably the factory mark which, in Pinyin, reads "Jiu Jiang Hui Kang Chu Pin". This item was made in China in the 1940s during the late Republic period. A well modelled and painted glazed and "biscuit" figure of Budai made in China during the Republic period (1912-1949). On the base is the mark: Man Yi Sheng Zao - "Made by Man Yi Sheng". This item was brought to the UK by a Liverpool seaman during either the 1930s or 1940s. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 18cm (7inches) high; 18cm (7inches) wide.

A rare Mahogany table with deeply carved traditional West African style geometric decoration and with elegant stylized antelope form legs. The European shape and African decoration suggests that this item was made for European clients during the Colonial period, is probably Igbo from eastern Nigeria, and was possibly exported to the UK in the 1950s or 1960s during the period of transition to Independence. Condition: very good - no damages or repairs. Top 74cm (29.1 inches) x 58.5cm ( 23 inches). 67 cm ( 26.3 inches) high

A large and heavy carved hardwood mask, inset with Paua shell eyebrows, eyes and teeth, depicting tu-mata-uenga - the Maori god of war. Condition: very good - no damages, repairs or restoration. 48cm (18.9inches) high; 28cm (11inches) wide.

An early 20th Century ostrich feather ladies fan with twenty faux tortoiseshell (plastic) sticks. This item was made in the first half of the 20th Century, probably circa 1920-1940. Condition: excellent, probably unused - some of the sticks still have their original tissue paper wraps. 38cm (15inches) across when extended.

An early 20th Century Zisha ("purple clay") teapot with famille rose enamelled decoration depicting the "Three Friends of Winter" - prunus (plumb) blossom, pine tree and bamboo - and also a single bat. This item was made in Yixing, Zhejiang province, China during the Republic period (1911-1949). The maker's or shop seal mark inside the cover reads "Rong Ji"; the elaborate seal mark on the base reads "Fu Kang Ying Kou". Ying Kou is a town in Liao Ning province, north east China. Condition: very good - there are no damages other than a minute chip to the cover (please view enlargement 7) . There has been no restoration. 16.5cm (6.5inches) long; 9cm (3.5inches) high. A rare carved hardwood plaque depicting a heavily tattooed Maori figure with top-knot and holding a Mere (traditional short club); the eyes are inset with Paua (abalone) shells. This item was acquired with the large mask (item #201 in our catalogue) and is signed with the same initials. Condition: very good - the left toe of the left foot is missing; no other damages and no repairs. 75cm (29.5 inches) high. A rare mixed material Art Deco necklace made in the 1930s or 1940s. Condition: excellent. 46cm (18 inches) long

An unusually large "Ivory" coloured moulded Bakelite (Urea Formaldehyde) wall plaque designed by William McMillan RA. These plaques were manufactured by De la Rue Plastics and were presented by the War Office to local Savings Committees in appreciation of their success in "Salute the Soldier Week" in 1944. Some are still to be found in public buidigs throughout the U.K.. For a similar commemmorative wall plaque please view cat. no. EPH 4622 in the collection of the Imperial War Museum, London. Condition: exceptionally good - one small 1.5cm production flaw to the left of the rifle but not visible on the reverse. 58cm (22.8 inches) high; 35cm (13.75 inches) wide.

A rare "famille rose" dragon and phoenix decorated bowl with an inscription dedicating it as a 60th birthday gift from Ma Tao Yu to Xiong Gong - otherwise known as Chen Zhao Ying (1888-1977), who was a senior military leader of the Guo Min-dang (Kuomintang) between the years 1911 to 1932 and who was very close to Sun Zhong-shan and Jiǎng Jièshí (Chiang Kai-shek). From 1944 to 1948, Chen Zhao Ying was the chief of the Jiangxi Province Guo Min-dang Party committee and the minister of Audit for Anhui and Jiangxi Provinces. The bowl, dedicated as an advance birthday gift, is dated Autumn, 1946. Condition - excellent - no damages and no restoration. 12.4cm (4.8 inches) diameter. 1946年 民国 龙凤团纹祝寿碗 一件粉彩龙凤团纹祝寿碗。为一名为马陶余的同乡晚辈送与时任皖赣监察使的陈肇英60大寿之礼。上书：“雄公监察使六秩华诞誌庆”、“寿世寿心”、“乡晚马陶余敬献——丙戌年秋月“。 品相：完好。无损伤，无修复。直径12.4厘米。 注：陈 肇英(1888—1977)，字雄夫，浙江浦江古塘村人。浙江省浦江县中山中学创办人。 辛亥革命时，参加浙联军光复南京战役。1916年，发动浙江独立，反对袁世凯和浙江都督朱瑞，并赴上海见孙中山。1918年，通电拥护西南护法政府，任援 闽浙军第一师中将师长兼前敌总指挥。次年，与蒋介石结为把兄弟。1922年，任以孙中山为非常大总统的护法政府参谋。1926年1月，被选为中国国民党第 二届中央执行委员会候补委员。蒋介石四一二反革命政变后，递补为国民党中央执行委员，连任至第六届。1928年起，任国民政府立法院立法委员，后兼立法院 军事委员会委员长。1934—1942年间，任闽浙监察使。1935年起，兼任中国国民党福建省党部主任委员。1944年，改任中国国民党江西省党部主任 委员、皖赣监察使。1948年任监察院监察委员。1949年6月去台湾，曾兼任中国国民党中央纪律委员会委员、中央评议委员等。著有《八十自述》。

A well cast Art Deco bronze figure of an African warrior designed by Austrian sculptor Franz Hagenauer and made circa 1930-1950. Condition: excellent - no damages or repairs and with original paint in unretouched condition. Bronze: 12.5cm (4.9inches) high; length 19cm (7.5inches)

A heavy hammered copper box with domed top, fitted wood interior and applied (overlaid and inlaid) silver decoration. We understand that the Arabic inscription is descriptive of the box's function (for holding cigarettes). This item was made in Egypt during the first half of the 20th Century. A small French Impressionist style oil on board, entitled "London: Sunset at Hammersmith" by Italian born Piero Sansalvadore. Sansalvadore arrived in London, circa 1930, and started painting late in life. The majority of his pictures were produced during the 1930s and 1940s. Some of his paintings are on display at the Guidhall Art Gallery, London and four are in the Royal Collection, purchased by Queen Mary (the Queen Mother) in December 1938 from an exhibition at the Fine Art Society. Condition: there is minor paint loss to the top edge; un-retouched and not restored in its original (circa 1930s) frame. 9.5cm wide; 7.5cm (high)
