A large underglaze blue decorated vase, very finely painted in 18th Century style with bands of plantain leaves, key fret and ruyi above the Bajixiang (eight Buddhist emblems) amongst cloud scrolls. On the base is the six character seal mark of the Qianlong emperor (1736-1795) but this item was made later, in the 20th Century, probably during the Republic period (1911-1949). Condition - a section of the body has been broken and was professionally repaired about 30 years ago (please view enlargements 7 and 8) and there are two drill holes to the base where we have had the vase tested. 38cm (15inches) high.
