A rare early (female) Buddhist Guardian Lion painted with unevenly distributed crackular overglaze turquoise enamel. This item was probably made in China during the 17th or early 18th Century. Condition: very good - there are many small underglaze firing cracks; there is glaze loss to both eyes and there is 'kiln grit'(of the type commonly associated with late Ming "Kraak" export porcelain) to the base.
