The seal is engraved with two oft-quoted lines by Tang Dynasty poet Du Fu () saying Qing Song Han Bu Luo, Bi Hai Kuo Yu Cheng, meaning Pine-Leaves Do Not Fall in the Cold of Winter, While Seas Look Vast and Pure Across.
