Two Chinese rank badge roundels from the short lived Hongxian Empire of 1916. That year, Yuanshikai, the first Grand President of Republic of China, became emperor for only 83 days. These silk embroidered roundels are few on the market due to the short life of the Hongxian Empire. One roundel has nine of the traditional twelve symbols, which roundel was for the civil official of first rank (five ranks total). The other roundel of lower rank (possibly the second rank) has seven of the twelve symbols. (A roundel with all twelve symbols was for the emperor only.)

Size: about 8.5" diameter

Condition: good condition
