A large and attractive soapstone carving standing Guanyin holding a lotus spray and accompanied by a phonix, standing on the lotus base, 19th century. The carving is in one piece including the lotus base, and fixed to a fitted woodstand. 13.5" tall with the stand.

The sculpture depicts vividly in different angles, and gives you peaceful and graceful feelings. The Guanyin's facial carving has the influence of sculpture carving of buddhism. There seem to be traces of Western influence too in the phoenix.

The carving is unusually sensitive for a figure of this type. There is no loss or damage. 13.5" tall.
