A cream coloured glazed dish of plain and refined form, from the Dingyao kilns, Hebei in Northern China. 11th to 12th century. From a short foot-rim, the cavetto gently rises to a flat, unglazed , rim. It is unusual to find an undecorated Dingyao dish. It has been postulated (Regina Krahl, Chinese ceramics from the Meiyintang collection) that such dishes may have been decorated with gilding. Dimensions: 22 cm diameter. Similar dishes may be found in: 1. Marchant's exhibition of Chinese ceramics , Han to Song (2018), p46; formerly of the Masataka Tomika collection, no. 147. 2. Hans Popper collection of oriental art, no. 95. 3. Chinese ceramics from the Meiyintang collection, volume three, no. 1425, p426.
