Probably Beijing Palace Workshops, 1750 – 1820
Height: 7.9 cm.
Transparent ruby-red glass of flattened and elongated meiping form, with a flared neck and recessed foot with a flat base.
The form of this very elegant bottle is referred to as "modified meiping" and "courtly shape" by Messrs. Hugh Moss, Victor Graham and Ka Bo Tsang in Hugh Moss, Victor Graham and Ka Bo Tsang, A Treasury of Chinese Snuff Bottles: The Mary and George Bloch Collection, 5 volumes (Hong Kong: 1998), vol. 5 Glass, part 2, cat. no. 782. Cat. no. 751 is another bottle of similar form in ruby-red glass. Both the form and the use of ruby-red glass are indicative that the present bottle could be attributable to the Beijing Palace Workshops.
