An authentic Chinese silk purse in exquisite condition, covered with elaborately embroidered crickets, flowers, and butterflies on a golden embroidered background. The minute workmanship is beyond belief.
A kidney bean shaped silk purse that has a blue pleated silk collar above a body that is literally covered with artistic and sumptuous counted-stitch embroidery. The gold wrapped threads of the background give off that impression of imperial yellow. Two green silk elaborate draw cords with Buddhist endless knots ending in small rings, were used to secure the purse to the wearer’s clothing.
4 1/16” (2.7 cm) wide x 2 7/8” (7.3 cm) tall x 3/16” (.5 cm) thick. Weighs 0.6 oz (15 g)
The purse has no tears, loose threads, holes, or damages. There is oxidization to the threads from age. The purse still looks fresh and bright.
A tiny work of embroiders’ art; a small gem. The people who made this purse were experts. These small works of art look impossible to make.
