A nice color of celadon with the additional incised design of phoenixes, make this vase stand out. The small nail like bead work at the top and bottom of the vase frame the incised design.
An ovoid, egg shaped porcelain vase that has had roundels back and front incised with designs of phoenixes. Little nail like beads have been added to the top and bottom of the vase. The glaze is a celadon color glaze that is shiny and smooth to the touch. Time has oxidized and softened the glaze so it is soft and slick to the touch. The vase has good glaze control, stopping just above the foot. The foot is unglazed but the base is glazed. Emperor Yongzheng’s reign mark is painted in cobalt blue on the base.
5 ¾” (14.6 cm) tall x 4 ½” (11.4 cm) diameter. Weighs 1 lb 0.1 oz (455 g)
There are no chips, cracks, or breaks. The glaze is in very good condition.
A well-made vase with experienced workmanship and a lovely, even celadon color.
