A traditional decorated ginger jar with a worn soft feel and such a nice deep blue color.
A heavy hand potted and painted porcelain ginger jar painted with a design of mountains, trees, houses, water, boats and a fisherman trying his luck. The design was quickly and expertly painted with a fluid hand. The painting was done with a black cobalt, and the body glaze is a thick off white. It has such a very soft feel and looks shiny.
The jar has a shallow unglazed cut foot. The base is glazed and has a double cobalt ring in the center.
6 ¼” (15.9 cm) tall x 6 1/8” (15.6 cm) diameter. Weighs 2 lb 3.1 oz (1000 g)
There are no cracks, or breaks. There is a chip on the inner foot and may have been a manufacture flaw. There is wear to the jar but it still looks fresh and bright after all of these years. The jar feels so very soft.
A wonderful dark blue and white jar to add to a décor using blue and white. The painting looks very modernistic.
