Huge colorful decorative handmade porcelain platter. You will definitely see this porcelain from across the room.

Very large scalloped edged hand potted and colorfully hand painted porcelain charger uses green, rose, yellow, blue and gold. Black is used to outline and delineate designs. The charger has four big medallions surrounding a central medallion. The design within each medallion is of different flowers and fruit surrounded by rose and tendril scrolling, and set off by rings and lined edges.

The charger was done to mimic Cantonese famille rose designs but is Japanese. The designs have a Japanese aesthetic and the plate has sager marks, which the Japanese usually used but Chinese rarely did.

The glaze is thick and shiny and the charger is heavily potted. The foot ring is unglazed and cut. There are three sager marks on the glazed base. There is a porcelain mark on the base in under glaze cobalt. This mark is in Chinese characters. It looks to be a reign mark; however I was unable to definitively identify the mark.

16” (40.5 cm) diameter x 2 1/8” (5.4 cm) tall. Weighs 4 lb 7.4 oz (2.05 kg)

The piece has no rim chips, cracks, or breaks and rings like a bell. There is very slight wear to the gilding on the outer edge and a loss of a bit of enamel in the center on a green leaf. The enamel is bright and shiny.

This charger is so large and will definitely make a statement. I can see this charger in a pastel room with vases of pale pink roses.
