A hand potted Chinese porcelain export plate for the west with delicate hand painted designs. Though the plate was for the western market, the Chinese still incorporated Chinese design sense and artifacts.
The central well has three floral small paintings. The cavetto is painted with landscape scenes of rocks and old twisted tree trunks. The mouth and cavetto edge have gold bands. There is a shallow foot ring that is unglazed. The base is glazed. There is no decoration on the underside of the plate.
The plate was hand thrown, and hand painted in over glaze enamels. You can see the potter’s wheel marks on the base under the glaze. The body glaze is thin with an off white coloring. It’s not brilliant white. The designs were painted in an iron wash with accents in gilt and black.
