Unusual hexagonal shaped thin export porcelain plate with an exacting painting in blue and white of peony, bamboo, chrysanthemum and rose.
The hand potted porcelain plate is very thinly potted, with a cut unglazed foot has been painted in blue and white. The white glaze has a blue tint and the cobalt used to paint the design is a nice dark smoky blue. The design in the central well is of a peony bush next to a Lake Tai stone with bamboo behind and a rose to the right. The lip is decorated with peony and flowers. The cavetto has a repeating arabesque ring. The back has no decoration. The base is glazed.
There are no porcelain marks or labels.

8 3/8” (21.3 cm) x 8 3/8” (21.3 cm) x 5/8” 1.6 cm) tall. Weighs 11.5 oz (325 g).
The plate has a chip at the top and several rim frits. The plate still looks fresh and bright. It has kiln flaws such as pimples, glaze spots, and bumps. There is very little wear to the central well.
A great plate to add to a collection of blue and white and to add substance and age to so many decors. It’s so very old.
