Antique Chinese silk embroidered band circa 1900 with gold couched threads.
Very intricate, minute workmanship with beautiful designs.
Dark ivory colored silk with multicolored silk threads in blue, black, green, brown, and white. The piece is embroidered with satin stitch and possibly Kossu stitch. There are also gold couched threads that are used to outline. The band was probably used on a robe for a sleeve cuff, and can be used as a wall hanging. Half is embroidered and half isn’t.
48” long x 7” wide. Weighs .7 oz.
There is staining and wrinkles, which can be pressed out after cleaning. There are also a few holes on the blank end. The ends are frayed.
A beautiful work of textile art. A piece of history to be framed and adorn your home.
