A realistic, colorful, Chinese porcelain figure of a dog with a bell collar that has little realistic touches such as the highly defined teeth and tongue, ribs showing and facial distinctions.
The body of the porcelain figure was molded, and is neither super heavy nor light. It has a hollow interior. The unglazed flat base has a hole for the removal of the slip. The body of the figure is a rich brown with yellow collar and a green bell. The glaze is thin, smooth, and shiny. The dog has black pupils and a white glazed mouth showing small teeth and amazingly thin but wide buff-colored tongue.
There is a red stamped CHINA on the base.
6 ¾” (17.1 cm) tall x 5 ¼” (13.3 cm) long x 3” (7.6 cm) wide. Weighs 12.7 oz (360 g)
There are no cracks, chips or breaks. The glazes show little wear and are bright and shiny. There are kiln flaws like pimples, and reserves.
A decorative old Chinese porcelain that shows much character. I think the dog was just fed because she’s smiling.
