A colorful, exacting, and interestingly-shaped Japanese vase with a custom wood stand.

A heavy bronze metal base has been covered in glass enamels in many deep wonderful colors, including deep cobalt blue, vivid green, golden yellow, limpid water blue, and even white suffused with deep blue. The designs are of birds and shi shi lions playing with their ribbons. The base has a wonderful dark cobalt blue enamel which is matches the interior of the vase.

The Japanese were particular good with cloisonné. The mouth edge and the foot show the golden base metal. The shape is a diamond and fits a carved wood stand.

There are no marks or labels either on the vase or on the stand.
