Finely painted, translucent, heavy porcelain teapot with intricate designs of garlands and flowers with glittering gold accents.
A heavy cylinder porcelain with attached c scroll handle and upright slightly arched spout. The porcelain is very translucent and the body glaze is a nice bright white. The glaze is thick and very soft feeling. The shallow foot is unglazed while the base is glazed. Over glaze enamels have been painted with ribbon garland and flower designs. The teapot lid matches the body in design with a round knob finial. There is a bead on the inner lid that matches a cut out on the inside mouth flange of the body. The lid has a single hole to let out steam. The teapot has had wonderfully fine gilding work painted.
There are no marks or labels.
8” (20.3 cm) long x 6” (15.2 cm) tall x 4 ½” (11.4 cm) diameter. Weighs 1 lb 8.8 oz (705 g)
There are no cracks, chips, or breaks. There is very tiny gilding wear to a few spots on the rim edges of the teapot and lid. There are a few stain marks on the interior bottom of the teapot. The teapot is bright and colorful. It’s in wonderful condition for such and old teapot!
A beautiful early hand painted teapot to add to a collection or to use to serve tea.
