From our European Collection, a lovely and substantially-sized 19th century nautical oil painting of ships in a European port, signed and dated S. Brade 1871. This painting is in excellent condition with only the typical fine craquelure expected in paintings of its age. UV light inspection suggests possible small random areas of touch-up to the sky, but otherwise this piece has survived well in fine original, essentially unrestored condition.

From our European Collection, a very fine and large Victorian silver tea tray by W.W. Harrison (Sheffield) 1883. The tray is of oval shape with beaded borders and handles of acanthus leaf motifs. The interior field of the tray is very finely engraved and chased with a Greek key border framing a central design of floral swirls, with those floral swirls further encircling a central armorial crest for London's old Shaw family, with a motto in Latin that translates as "Know Thyself." From our Southeast Asia Collection, a very good 18th century gilded bronze Thai buddha, seated in bhumisparsa mudra, gilded lacquer over bronze with interesting glass inserts to the base, and all the indicia of legitimate age and genuineness.

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a large and well-carved image of the Burmese monk Mogallana, 19th century. The carving is rendered in gilding and black lacquer over carved hardwood, with shell inserts for the eyes, typical for the better quality Mandalay era pieces. Overall, the piece is very nicely executed with good expressiveness and presence, making it very suitable for part of a shrine ensemble, or simply for display as a centerpiece on its own.

From our World Handicrafts Collection (ex-Asia), a handsome Caucasus accent rug, early 20th century, featuring wool on wool construction using red, two different blues, dark green, black, peach, orange and gray. A very nice unpretentious example with good character. Though there is a fairly wide spectrum of colors used, the main feeling is mostly of red, gray, and blue, and the overall palette is quite subdued, making this piece very useable in a variety of different decors.
