From our Indian Subcontinent Collection, a large enameled silver box from Jaipur, Rajasthan (India), featuring a very attractively painted elephant in regal attire executed in royal blue against an irridescent turquoise background, with floral motifs in green, blue, and champagne color around the borders and on the sides, all executed upon high grade silver. This particular box is a larger example of another similar piece we offer, item # 937150...

From our World Handicrafts Collection (Ex-Asia), a large, fine, and wonderfully vibrant hand-made kilim from Uzbekistan or the Caucasus Region, with bird and geometric motifs executed in a rich multicolor palette of indigo, red, blue, mint green, brown, cream, and purple against a burnt orange ground. A very elegant, intricate, and sophisticated example...

From our World Handicrafts Collection (Ex-Asia), an interesting hand-made wool prayer rug, probably Persian but it could possibly come from the Caucasus region as well. The rug features a main central medallion in rust colored ground, two minaret motifs towards the top, and geometrical motifs on the borders. The workmanship seems to be a combination of natural mineral pigments and synthetic dyes.

Size and Condition: 60 inches long, 39 inches wide...

From our World Handicrafts Collection (Ex-Asia), a charming hand-carved mirror frame from Cuzco Peru, sister city of the famed Macchu Piccu ruins. The wood used here is an indigenous Andean softwood that has been very skillfully carved in Spanish Baroque style, not uncommon since Peru was colonized by the Spanish in the 1500's and Spanish architectural influence still pervades their culture and crafts. The mirrored glass was installed later in the States...

From our Indian Subcontinent Collection, a large carved marble caparisoned elephant from Southern India. Naturalistically carved from a cream / off-white colored marble, this makes for a good decorator's item for those looking to add an Indian flair.

Size and Condition: 12 inches tall, 10 inches long, and 4 inches deep. A very heavy and substantial piece of marble at approximately 20 pounds.

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a good contemporary nephrite jade carving of a mother elephant with her infant. Sourced directly from the Chiang Mai region of Thailand in the early 1990's, the jade is a very deep emerald green color, somewhat darker than the website photos which seem to have lightened the jade color due to the flash...

From our Southeast Asia Collection, a lovely handmade silk on cotton vintage table runner from Laos, using tan colored silk woven into geometric designs with magenta and blue/green colored accents. The runner is shown only half size as we have folded it to fit within the confines of our display boards, but it is actually quite long and very well-suited for long dinner tables or sideboards. It can also be displayed either framed or unframed as a wall hanging...

The piece depicts two men boating along a marsh with a wonderful view of some communal structures fronting a stunning mountainside. For those who have been fortunate to travel to the Inle Lake area, this certainly brings back memories. And for those who have never been, this painting makes you want to go...

From our Indian Subcontinent Collection, a superbly carved sandalwood buddha from the city of Jasailmer in the Rajasthan region of India. This buddha sits in padmasana (interlocking lotus position) upon a double lotus base while displaying vitarka mudra with the right hand, and holding what is probably a kalasa pot in the left hand.
