White jade pendant lightly stained with rust representing a goose resting on a lotus leaf. No hole, the attachment being made by the blow folded in handle. An excellent shakudo tsuba inlaid with a "thousand flowers" decoration in gold, silver and sentoku. The technique is particular, the tsuba is first cast in shakudo with all the flowers in relief, then chiseled. Then each flower is covered with a thick sheet of metal, gold, silver or sentoku, this sheet is hammered on the sides of the flowers as one would border a bed sheet. Excellent work , exceedingly difficult more than inlaid. This was not done to save material nor economy, because the silver...

Small box in chiseled and gilded copper alloy. Decor of a dragon cast in relief and chiseled on an incised "pearl" background. The sides of the box are in mixed brown and black laminated metals like the ribs of a wood. This technique (called Mokume in Japanese) would indicate that it is a Japanese work but some scholars believe that some of these sawasa were made in China during the reign of Kang-hi. A sawasa incense burner kept at the Shanghai museum has parts in mixed metals. It is advertised...

Cup and dish in very thick copper alloy, hammered, cloisonne and enamelled. Hot gilding with mercury. Good general condition, however, enamel chips at the lower part of the cup (see inset on photos). The handles enameled in "chanlevé" technic(bronze carved and filled in with enamel). Thick gilding very little worn in few place(see photos).Perhaps 18th century, I think rather Kia-King period (late 18th early 19th) Dish diameter: 13cm. Cup width: 10cm.
Candlestick in embossed copper alloy and cloisonné enamels. The top and bottom edges in solid bronze. The whole is cloisonné and enamelled with the edges which are in chanlevé (the bronze is carved and the designs are filled with enamel). Hot gilding, Kien-long mark incised under the base but surely apocryphal. I think it's a Chinese work from the end of the 19th century. Some normal wears and see photos. No restorations.
