The tube of the pipe is simply cut from a natural bamboo stem to which the artist has chosen to leave some secondary stem ends. The frame, mainly in bronze, is composed of several layers of metals, alloys of different colors, yellow , red-brown and grayish-black, finely cut with motifs, bats, swastikas and stylized Lingzhi, wishing 10,000 years of happiness and long life. There are some jadeite beads embedded in the decor. The main bat has a body made of green jadeite and eyes made of what appears to me to be small garnets, but perhaps pink jadeite. One tip is made of bone, the other is missing. There are two other stones that appear to be rock crystal and amber. Total length 565mm. Dimensions of jadeite beads. Eyes about 1mm 9mm 8mm and 4mm

The head is carved in a grey stone that I think is limestone, it is harder than marble but it can be scratched with a steel tool. The naive sculpture seems to be made by a craftsman who was not a sculptor or a sculptor of a primitive people. It unquestionably represents a Buddha with his third eye in the middle of his forehead. There is some red pigment left in one nostril and in the corner of the mouth. The appearance of the stone seems very old. The style of the hairstyle reminds me of the Tang dynasty but it seems impossible to me that it is Chinese, the same type of wood and the same design as that of pedestals which I believe are found in Indonesia or elsewhere in South-East Asia and on which are mounted indigenous carvings in ivory or deer antlers for export since 1880. It is quite possible that this Buddha, which was life-size, was commissioned by a Chinese expatriate community to a native sculptor who would have done his best. The large eyes, thick lips and pointed skull are rather reminiscent of Africa. It is an intriguing statuary that is certainly unique. High about 35 cm (stone only)

Jade water bucket in form of amusing toad.Inlaid with yellow metal. It is impossible to check if it is gold because it would be necessary to tear off encrustations to test ,however the object has not been cleaned for several years and only gold can remain shiny, bronze or brass would have oxide. The metal wires in some places are split in half lengthwise, which is probably due to a certain technique? The work is very neat, underneath there are traces of tools which should help a specialist. The patina of the stone is beautiful, satiny without being shiny. 102 x 18mm. Chinese work Han périod or Qing copy or fake modern?

Cast bronze censer gilded with mercury. Decor of Greek friezes and incised precious objects. The gilding is largely worn, we still see some in the places most protected from wear and tear. It is thick and of good quality, it is a hot-pasted mercury gilding technique. The handles are attached to the body they were cast with it, they are not added, riveted or welded, they represent dragon heads. On the base foot we can see a vertical dark trace of solding that is probably an old restauration. Difficult to certified the antiquity of this bronze ,because cleaned intensively and the old patina missing, but the beautifull and correct gilding traces is encouraging. China Qing 18th centurie? Wide with the handles : 15cm. Weight 550g
