Candlestick in embossed copper alloy and cloisonné enamels. The top and bottom edges in solid bronze. The whole is cloisonné and enamelled with the edges which are in chanlevé (the bronze is carved and the designs are filled with enamel). Hot gilding, Kien-long mark incised under the base but surely apocryphal. I think it's a Chinese work from the end of the 19th century. Some normal wears and see photos. No restorations. The head is carved in a grey stone that I think is limestone, it is harder than marble but it can be scratched with a steel tool. The naive sculpture seems to be made by a craftsman who was not a sculptor or a sculptor of a primitive people. It unquestionably represents a Buddha with his third eye in the middle of his forehead. There is some red pigment left in one nostril and in the corner of the mouth. The appearance of the stone seems very old...

Hard Stone Bead Necklace 106 very hard green stone beads probably jade, 10 green turquoise beads and 5 larger pink rock crystal beads. Mounted with silver filigree details and silk threads. China Qing dynasty. Difficult to date exactly. 19 ° or before. I sincerely believe it's green jade but I don't think it's a very desirable color. It is not glass, it is a stone, it is not jadeite because it is not translucent.

Small cast bronze tripod incense burner. Beautiful finish. The two handles are in the shape of Buddhist lions heads. Qing Chinese. The bottom of the feet slightly flared would rather suggest a Japanese Edo creation but without certainty. Dirty. Width 65mm

A jewel, reliquary pendant. The receptacle is silver embossed, the cover is copper with mercury gilding embossed decoration of Buddhist emblems. A coral bead is set in the center. A ring is provided for a suspension cord. The part opposite this ring is a hollow cylinder. It is possible that there was another mobile part now lost? However I do not see any wear that a moving part would have necessarily left traces and the jewel is well balanced so...

Painting on woven paper. An unusual and surprising technique. The paper is cut out then this woven paper is painted. However there is a subtlety because in some places only the vertical strips are painted and not the horizontal ones which shows us colored squares alternating with unpainted squares which gives a blurred effect anticipating our "pixels" and which, I think, gave the illusion of a woven fabric...

Painted and red carved lacquer box. It is decorated with three coloured figures on a black lacquer background, sitting and busy writing or drawing in an interior open to a garden of banana trees. Curiously, the sides are decorated in carved cinnabar red lacquer. The interior and the underside are black lacquered...
