Large cast bronze incense burner. Representing a man riding a carp. Beautiful cast and excellent chasing and finishing. Wooden base carved with plants and phoenix. H: 230cm Weight: 100 to 150 kg. Good general condition, beautiful original patina, some gaps in the eagle's feathers, a ribbon missing from the man a small piece of wood missing from the pediment of the base (see photo), really small things for an object of this importance. We did not find a signature and did not search for any traces of such a bronze in one of the world exhibitions of the time. I think it's the sennin Shi-Yeï who one day save a small beautifull carp. And take care of her. Later the carp grew and turned out to be a deity. In thanks she took Shi-Yei on her back and carried her to heaven.
