The lion is in embossed and chiselled sentoku, inlaid with silver, shakudo and gilding (or gold?). The inside is gilded on lacquer and the mane and hair are made of stretched silver threads. The maedate are mostly made of polychrome wood or gold lacquered, more rare are those made of dry lacquer, those made of metals are usually very simple. The one presented here is absolutely exceptional and very rare if not unique. I have not found Maedate of this quality anywhere. The price is accordingly. It lacks the holding rod that I can replace free of charge on request. Excellent condition, patina and gilding well preserved. Hairs and manes in black oxidized silver, no missing or restored. Probably 19° Meiji but maybe before. Length: 16cm Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
