Cigarette holder in steel damascened with gold and silver.The decor is Arabic-Egyptian style, the work is of the highest quality.There are two shades of gold which is very subtle and cannot be seen in the photos, a pure yellow gold and a slightly greenish gold due to an addition of either silver or platinum. This type of work called "damascened" was with the best results practiced in Spain. On the reverse is engraved an oriental inscription which does not seem to me to be Arabic but rather Indian ? Unless this inscription means nothing and is only put for decorative purposes. Inside is struck "110" and 2 entangled characters which must be the mark of the goldsmith who was certainly one of the best if not the best of his time.Perhaps Zuloaga himself. Period late 19th. Exceptionally perfect state of preservation, no wear, no rust, and no lack of gold. A marvelous present for lover. 98x83x16mm.
