A very attractive chawan (tea bowl) by one of Japan's renowned modern potters: Kiyomizu Rokubei VI (1901-1980).

This chawan is basically a Ki-irabo bowl with rich overtones of golden powder inlayed over a carved sun. Rokubei VI was a glaze innovator, and although his works his based on tradition, it was very much in touch with his time.
